Starters
Guard: Bradley Beal, Shooting Guard, Washington Wizards
Once again Bradley Beal finds himself on another Team of the Week and this time it’s for his back-to-back 44 point games against the Boston Celtics and Minnesota Timberwolves. Only one game resulted in a win but Beal has clearly been feeling himself these past few games. Although the Wizards are arguably one of the worst defensive teams in the league, they are ironically one of the best offensive teams. Head Coach Scott Brooks has done a phenomenal job running sets to get Beal open and it’s clear he’s one of the best shooting guards in the league.
Guard: Ja Morant, Point Guard, Memphis Grizzlies
With Zion Williamson sidelined to start the season, the Rookie of the Year Award is up for grabs and Ja Morant is making an early case for it. Although the Memphis Grizzlies aren’t winning many games, Morant shined in one of their wins against the Utah Jazz where he hit the game-winning layup with seconds remaining. The shifty guard for Murray State has impressed a lot of people so far this season and you can tell he has a beautiful feel for the game.
Forward: LeBron James, Small Forward, Los Angeles Lakers
I cannot stress to you enough that this is LeBron James’ 17th season in the NBA. James has been the best player in the league for the majority of his career and he somehow is showing no signs of slowing down. What he’s doing is insane and he yet again posted a triple-double of 25 points, 10 assists, and 11 rebounds. The two headed monster of Anthony Davis and James has proved to be unstoppable so far this season.
Forward: Paul George, Small Forward, Los Angeles Clippers
Staying in the same arena but switching jerseys, Paul George made his season debut for the Clippers and dropped 33 points with Kawhi Leonard out with an injury. After missing the beginning of the season with a shoulder injury, George really came back in style and showed that once him and Leonard are together the league is going to be in trouble. Both players can erupt for huge games on a nightly basis and get it done on the defensive end.
Center: Moritz Wagner, Center, Washington Wizards
Out of every player that has made a Team of the Week roster, Moritz Wagner is without a doubt the most surprisingly. Acquired in a trade this off-season, Wagner was essentially gifted to the Washington Wizards for free by the Los Angeles Lakers so they could trade for Anthony Davis. Subsequently, the Wizards are a team that is in a rebuild so many young players are getting a chance to show what they have for them. Wagner has found his way into their rotation as a backup big man and his game against the Minnesota Timberwolves was very surprising. He came out of nowhere and dropped 30 points, 15 rebounds, and shot 13-for-15 from the floor. He was the first player in NBA history to accomplish this feet while only playing 25 minutes off the bench.
Reserves: Luka Doncic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Brandon Ingram, Donavon Mitchell, Kelly Oubre
